Flagstaff Draft 25/26 Budget
The City of Flagstaff is one of the few cities around the country who uses Priority Based Budgeting. This means staff making budget requests are required to document how they address the various priorities. Residents will also see on every city council agenda that items discussed and voted on in meetings also detail how they address these priorities. The priorities were developed in 2019 through an extensive public process and are revisited every couple of years. The last public outreach and edit process was conducted in 2023.
Beginning in January 2025 and concluding at the end of April, city council and staff have held three budget retreats and one capital improvements retreat. Each was open to the public, live streamed, and recorded. Before the first retreat and in between each, the city’s budget team meets with all city divisions and considers revenues and budget requests.
The budget will be adopted by the city council at the June 17, 2025 meeting.
