Mayor Daggett’s Priorities

The Mayor’s priorities include workforce housing, forest health, climate resilience, small business vitality and good jobs, community safety, parks, and safe and efficient transportation for all ages and abilities.

A Vibrant Community: Workforce Housing, Forest Health, and Transportation

  • The creation of workforce housing is critical. Lack of housing negatively impacts us all. Employers’ ability to attract and retain employees and our community’s diversity and resiliency are all diminished when residents can’t find decent, stable, and affordable housing.
  • The ecological health of our forests plays a key role in protecting water resources and quality, and helps to mitigate flooding following catastrophic wildland fires.
  • We must be proactive with land use planning and investment in multiple modes of transportation (transit, trails, sidewalks, bike facilities, and traffic calming measures).

  • Residents need access to workforce training and education to obtain, and advance in, high-quality jobs.
  • Maintaining and improving Flagstaff as an attractive place for existing businesses to remain and grow is critical.

Smart Investments: Water Resources, Public Safety, Climate Action, and Critical Infrastructure

  • Water quality and availability is critical and requires planning, conservation, and investment.
  • Flagstaff is surrounded by the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in the world and containing catastrophic wildland fires requires equipped and highly trained firefighters.
  • The reduction of carbon emissions will improve Flagstaff residents’ quality of life and position us for economic development opportunities in clean energy.
