Lunch with the mayor!
Former Mesa Mayor John Giles is a true public servant and was so kind to me as a new mayor. When he reached out and told me he started a new video project called “Lunch with the Mayor” and was traveling around Arizona, asking mayors to pick their favorite local restaurant, and filming the results–of course I said yes! I chose Urban Pine Eatery and met Mayor Giles and the film crew there for a fun couple of hours.
Although I had seen previous chapters of the project, I didn’t know what I was getting into. I thought we’d order lunch, talk about the food, talk about Flagstaff, and that would be it. Instead, owner Christa Freeman prepared a variety of salads, flat breads, appetizers, and subs that we tasted while we chatted and I talked about my favorite town, places, and people. Here’s the result!
